New To Omega, Speedmaster Question id="post_message_248009">Hey guys, im new to the world of Omega. Honestly I have always been a Breitling Guy. Anyway Omegas have really caught my eye recently. I have always been a fan of Nasa, Astronauts, space flight etc... My question is about the Speedmaster Moon edition, I guess it called? I went to an AD and he really couldnt give me any answer as to whats different from all the ones on Ebay dated back years and years to the new one. I guess im wondering if there is a major difference from a Brand new one and one thats 10-20+ years old. I look forward to picking up my first Omega and joining the clubs. Thanks for the help!
P.S. Is the Speedmaster a good way to break into Omega?

Will Omega refurbish ruin vintage Speedy? id="post_message_254401">I have a 1976 Speedmaster Moon watch that I pulled the stem out of. Lack of funds has prevented me from doing anything about this until now. I can take it locally to have the stem reattached but I'm wondering if I should have Omega reburbish my 33 year old watch? But, if they do, does this ruin the vintage-ness of it. On the one hand I like it being a little worn but on the other, after I finally got it open with the proper wrench, there is some minor "spotting" inside. It worked great before the stem-pulling incident. I'd appreciate any advice, opinions, etc. Thanks!

After passively looking for a blue-black 16710 with a 3186 movement, I found a 16710A M-series at a Rolex AD located in Carmel, California. This was the only AD whom I called who knew of the 3186 movement in the classic 16710 case.

I fitted my 16710A with a sapphire caseback in order to watch the Paracrom Blu hairspring. Changing the 24hour hand was smooth, just like the 3186 movement in my Rolex 116710. These 3186'ed 16710 watches have a A and B designation. "A" is for a Red-Black bezel and "B" is for Blue-Red.

The image above shows the watch face with the Arabic II in the watch face, and the bottom pictures show the Paracrom Blu hairspring and balance through the sapphire caseback.

This watch offers a classic, tool watch case, with forward thinking, modernized, movement. In my mind, this watch offers both classic and current Rolex style and technology.

Now, the fun part; breaking it in...... This watch is definitely a keeper
